DO NOT MISS THIS EPISODE!!! No words can describe how much we all enjoyed this conversation with a living legend. The guys were joined this week by Mr. Anthony "Tony" Vetturelli. Tony was a surveyor for over 40 years and compiled his experiences and wisdom into a book titled "Land Surveyor: Journey, Challenges & Destiny". He was gracious enough to share many personal stories that shaped his life, the best advice he's ever been given, guidance for future land surveyors, importance of hard work and loving what you do, and his perspective on life in general. Our good friend Phil Fedor joined the cast this week as well, adding tremendous value to this thought provoking discussion. Needless to say, this was a humbling episode that established new friendships and left us wanting more. Music by Frank Sinatra!!!

One of the highlights of Trimble Dimensions was getting to meet so many friends that we've come to know virtually over the last three years. This episode is a perfect example of just that. The guys got to spend some time with Tom Hebert a veteran dinosaur hunter and closet surveyor. Tom actually left a dinosaur dig in Montana and took a last minute flight to Las Vegas to conduct this interview...talk about commitment!!! Tom started his not for profit foundation for one reason...to make the world of earth sciences available to everyone. They work on cutting edge research, collaborations with scientist, museums, and educational institutions to create opportunities for all people to participate in earth sciences.

Rebecca has a great story as it pertains to her path to making GIS a very successful career choice. Nik Smilovsky, PhD, GISP, our resident Geospatial Evangelist, Solutions Provider, & Educator also participated in this GIS-centric conversation sharing his expert perspective on the GIS community. Some of the topics discussed included the "geospatial moment" we are in the midst of, unique GIS applications, how GIS transforms our lives on a daily basis, and how archaeology can lead to a career in GIS. Trust us when we say...this one is worth the wait! The guys were joined this week by the one and only J.J. Levenske. J.J. is the President at Bleuwave and a respected leader in the construction arena with an emphasis on operational proficiency and customer care. He has a strong aptitude on linking human capital, safety, operations, finance, sustainable building, and ever changing technical requirements. His value to an organization is to operationalize it in a way that reduces inefficiency and increases revenue. His goal is to be far in front of any current situation by foreseeing potential risk and working on the process so it is easier for his team in the future. DD has a new man-crush. Chief Geek secretly wishes he was a "little person". If you're keeping up with Suga's "locks of the week" you know now to do the opposite! Music provided by YAZ!!!

The guys were joined this week by a diverse panel of land survey professionals to discuss the various education & training opportunities for land surveyors. This esteemed group consisted of Peta Cox (National Training & Development Manager at Consulting Surveyors National, AUS), Michael Magyar (Owner, Magyar Land Surveying LLC in Oregon), Ray Lillibridge (PLS at OHM Advisors; Adjunct Professor at LTU; Adjunct Faculty at Eastern Michigan University, MI) and Brandon Montero (Program Director, Lead Trainer at Elevate Construction; Educator at Arizona State University; Author, Development Coach, AZ). I'm not sure if we solved all the "survey world's" problems, but we sure did touch on a number of issues affecting the profession of land surveying...past, present and future. Music by Buckcherry!!
