Episode 149 - Survey Education & Training Options

The guys were joined this week by a diverse panel of land survey professionals to discuss the various education & training opportunities for land surveyors. This esteemed group consisted of Peta Cox (National Training & Development Manager at Consulting Surveyors National, AUS), Michael Magyar (Owner, Magyar Land Surveying LLC in Oregon), Ray Lillibridge (PLS at OHM Advisors; Adjunct Professor at LTU; Adjunct Faculty at Eastern Michigan University, MI) and Brandon Montero (Program Director, Lead Trainer at Elevate Construction; Educator at Arizona State University; Author, Development Coach, AZ). I'm not sure if we solved all the "survey world's" problems, but we sure did touch on a number of issues affecting the profession of land surveying...past, present and future. Music by Buckcherry!!

Episode 148 - Simon Davis & Purposeful Intent

The guys were joined this week by Simon Davis. Simon is a thought mover and future of work evangelist. What is that you ask, well the short answer is listen and find out! Simon is also the Founder & CEO of Purposeful Intent. Work is more than bricks and mortar and to have a valuable place in the future, the physical offices needs to be used with "purposeful intent". He and his team bring together leaders from around the world to drive discussion and move the industry forward, free of excessive vested interests. Music for this episode by U2!!! Episode 147 - Bruce Baker & Peter Rullo

We love our Aussie peers! The guys and Peta Cox (our interpreter) were joined this week by Bruce Baker & Peter Rullo, a couple influential blokes from the land Down Under. Bruce & Peter are best friends that have and continue to build a geospatial empire. Peter founded Land Surveys in 1997 and has committed his career to building a leading Australian survey business. Bruce is the CEO of ISGroup, a specialist group of companies that includes Land Surveys and IntelliSpatial. Their collective mission is to leverage their geospatial experience and expertise to provide intelligent solutions. Some of the topics discussed include leading a cutting edge company into the future, staying ahead of the trends, importance of branding, "no problems, only solutions" and imaginary friends! Episode 146 - Dr. Nadine Alameh

The guys were joined this week by Nadine Alameh (a-la-may)! Nadine is the definition of a "leader" in the geospatial community. She is the CEO at Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), UN Geospatial Global Information Management board member, US National Geospatial Advisory Committee member, and passionate salsa dancer!! Episode 145 - Dr. Karen Joyce

The guys were joined this week by another geospatial influencer...Dr. Karen Joyce! Dr. Joyce is a biographer for Mother Earth, using satellites and drones as her scientific illustrators. She shares my experiences drawn from more than 20 years as a geospatial scientist in academia, military, industry, and small business to help people discover science beyond lab coats and test tubes. Dr. Joyce is passionate about how we can use drones and geospatial technology to watch over our environment and its changes. So the more people she can inspire to join her, the faster we can put plans in place to help keep our environment healthy into the future! There also may or may not have been a lengthy conversation about sea cucumber poop!?!?! Douglas Adams was quoted with music by Bon Jovi!!!

Episode 143 - Jonathan ”Jon” Murphy & GoGeomatics

This was a two for the price of one week! Not only were we lucky enough to have Gavin Schrock join us as a guest co-host, but also Jon Murphy the Founder and Managing Director of GoGeomatics Canada and GeoIgnite; Canada’s national geospatial conference. Such a great and insightful conversation with our new best friend from North of the border. Just a few of the items discussed include the challenges of promoting geomatics across Canada and abroad, engaging the next generation, how the geospatial professions are viewed differently across the globe, beers vs coffee and guidance from a geospatial career coach (Jon).
