James Combs, PLS has been working in the land surveying industry for nearly 13 years and is currently the Geomatics Technical Service Director at Souder Miller & Associates in CO. James studied Civil Engineering Technology & Land Surveying at Murray State University in KY. He is passionate about helping to develop and grow the NSPS Young Surveyors Network. James also shares some details about an experience he had surveying abroad. Jake McKinley is the “Director of Player Development Initiatives” for the Milwaukee Brewers and has a great story to tell. He is the definition of persistence and resilience. Not to be confused with Producer Jake…Baseball Jake literally volunteered the first 8 years of his coaching career while working for 4 different teams in three different states! He did not get his first coaching paycheck until his 29th birthday…to say he was/is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals is an understatement. We discuss all facets of baseball, some life lessons and what it takes to be successful doing whatever it is you’re passionate about. Big Shoots was in heaven as you can imagine AND he received a special surprise during the show. We also had a couple special guests pop in that made it one of the best shows yet. Loane III, PS PLS has been working in the land surveying industry for nearly 20 years and is currently a Senior Survey Project Manager at Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. in Westminster, CO. Robert has degrees from Florida Atlantic (B.S.) and University of Florida (M.S.). He has been published in American Surveyor, POB, Vegan Health & Fitness and is an avid kickboxer, hiker and gemstone collector. Robert also shares how he has overcome being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Kent requests cream chipped beef to be on the new Social Hall menu and reveals a new “quilty” pleasure. John Landsteiner is a graduate civil engineer from the University of Minnesota – Duluth and is an engineer at Lake Superior Consulting. More importantly, at least to Kent and our curling nerd listeners, John also plays Lead on Team Shuster the 2018 Men’s Team Curling Gold Medal winners in PyeongChang! John shares with us some of the behind the scenes stories from the moment they realized they won the Gold medal, to the media frenzy that followed and all the “once in a lifetime” stuff they got to do in the weeks and months that followed.
